Who needs a REG 343 form?
This form is issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles in the State of California. The owners of new or unregistered cars in California should complete this application.
What is the purpose of the REG 343 form?
The application for a title and registration is required to register a new car in California or register a new owner of a vehicle upon transfer of ownership. It can also be used to re-register a car that has been junked or removed from a database. The form provides information about the vehicle, the vehicle’s owner, information about the odometer, and the vehicle’s history. The California Department of Motor Vehicles uses the data provided for the registration process.
What documents must accompany the REG 343 form?
As a rule, there is no need to accompany the application with other forms, except the proof of the paid fees. Nevertheless, if the owner wants to use the car for business, he should include the form REG 4008 (Declaration of Gross Vehicle Weight/Combined Gross Vehicle Weight) and a Motor Carrier Permit.
When is the REG 343 form due?
The applicant must submit the form within 20 days of the date the vehicle appeared in California.
What information should be provided in the Application for title and registration?
The form has nine sections to be completed:
